Hello,

I am quite stressed that I have to post this but..

I purchased a Schooling Bannerfish and Dwarf Bicolor Angel 10 days ago from LFS and placed them in my quarantine tank after a Hydroplex dip. Dwarf Angel passed yesterday, it did not eat ever since I brought it home and did not show any physical symptoms of disease. I tried to feed Spirulina brine, seaweed, pellets and mega marine. However, the Schooling Bannerfish first exhibited physical symptoms 7 days in, one eye cloudy, second eye started, and color washed out/turning pale. He was twitching sometimes, and I think he rubbed on the pvc a bit. I made a 50% water change and dosed Melafix and Pimafix immediately. Bannerfish eating food without issue. 3 days in with the meds he started to improve in color and the worse cloudy eye is less red. LFS runs at hyposalinity and I keep my QT at 1.021-1.23 to bring them closer to DT.

Today when I was netting leftover food/poop I found a round, slightly white dot at the bottom of the tank. Flukes? I have API General Cure, should I dose? Should I continue on Melafix and Pimafix?

I do not believe he is strong enough for a FW dip at this time.

Nitrate: < 20ppm
Nitrites: 1.0ppm
Ammonia: Lowered since water change
pH: 8.0
Salinity: 1.021
Temp: ~80F

QT has cycled air sponge, pvc elbows, ammonia badge, temp and tiny live rock. I also have Dr. Tim's First Defense, One & Only, Phytoplankton running in the QT water.

Any advice or additional questions for clarification appreciated. Thank you so much.

That isn’t a fluke. Does the banner fish have an injured eye? The thing in the net looks like a lens from a fish’s eye.
Typically, I would suggest a FW dip to screen for flukes, but you feel the fish is too weak. The only other thing to do would be dose with General Cure I think.

Wow. That is depressing. The eye that was very cloudy is still too cloudy for me to determine if the lens came out. Both the other eye is also slightly cloudy and hasn't developed any further.

Ok, I'll add the GC. He definitely looks much better today with the Melafix and Pimafix. His black stripe has regained darkness. I'll try a FW dip in about a week when he regains strength.

Thanks so much @Jay Hemdal
