Received my fox face from DrReef earlier this week and everything seemed great. But for the last 2 days he has spent 95% of the day in camouflage mode, hiding under various rocks. He barely comes out to swim in his vibrant yellow color at all. As a result, I’m not sure he’s eaten much at all either.
is he still getting acclimated to the new tank? Or do I have an issue here? Any thoughts?

thanks,
Mike

What other fish are in the aquarium?

My fox face is model citizen in my aquarium. I have orange shoulder, shoal, and Sailfin tangs with mine. Very well behaved fish and keeps the peace among the other fish.

He might just be a little stressed out sometimes they dull down to a whitish brown if they get spooked or are getting bullied at feeding time by something like a tang, I know this sounds stupid but a buddy of mine had a foxface and it was more shy than his copperband(a usually shy character of the reef) his fox would color down and hide when his dog would start barking, when someone knocked on the front door or when a stranger would enter the room...foxes are usually more outgoing but that being said each individual fish has a personality of its own it may be in a situation where he's being picky about the given food or he maybe getting a little nervous. Try feeding nori dipped in selcon and a mixture of frozen mysis and spirulina, frozen bloodworms or black worms can also be good when supplemented it may just be the diet and tank mates some are piggies and like a variety of food

Just keep your eye on the slime coat over the next couple of days you probably know the drill

I have a tomini tang, a couple small damsels and a couple small chromis. i haven’t senn any bother him. He was more active the first day, but ever since he’s been in hiding. Seems strange

He’s probably just adjusting to the new environment. I had one that stayed camouflaged for the first week or so in quarantine. Once he got used to everything he colored back up.
