looking for Any tips on fraging colony of Acan lords.. My sps snips just are not the tool do i just---- :hammer: and chisel ?

I used a flathead screwdriver and a hammer. it was pretty messy and several heads got chopped in half but it got the job done and none of the heads died. the important part is getting them remounted. with all the slime they produce they could some loose and start floating around the tank. try not to cut through one of the heads but it will probably live if you do. mine did. they are pretty much indestructable haha.

I use a flathead screw driver and hammer as well. Every frag has made it so far

I dont use any because i have no acans...lol but they are so cool looking and was told they grow so fast... then why the heck is it selling so expensive?

when i fragged mine, I used a dremel with a diamond wheel bit. just layed them upside down on an old rag...and then cut like 90% of the way through. the snapped the rest. and then took a razor blade to cut through the tissue. In the future I want to buy a wet/dry diamond blade bandsaw, but the deal was buy more acans or get the saw. of course I bought more acans. LOL also. i have a bin of tank water right next to where i'm fragging...if I'm not physically cutting that piece, it's in the water. and as soon as I cut the piece it goes right into the water. I try and stress it the least amount as possible.

Not to hijack, but what if they're in a ball shape? As in not covering a flat easy to cut rock. I have two frags that turned into mini colonies, but they wrapped around the plug 360 deg, hard to explain, but I can't think of a good way to frag them.

Cut the colony into halves just like an apple. You'll end up with a few that are cut in half but that's about all you can do. They heal just fine.

Once you frag an acan, get ready to see baby acans overload. babies love to pop out of fragged acan heads.
