Fumanchu lionfish?

I agree with welsher about thinking twice on adding an eel to a reef, they can be destructive and are messy eaters which will add to the bioload. You can manage the bioload whether it be with skimming, dosing, algae scrubber or reactor and water chages. A 65 is an adequate tank for a snowflake, but they can be one of the most active eels. Their activity will be rough on corals.

Dwarf lions are good choices for a reef, I personally feed my lions live food. You could have a fu and a fuzzy in a 65, as long as you understand their feeding requirements you'll be fine. Weaning to dead food isn't 100% guaranteed. As far as flow goes, my lions are in a reef and they are happy. They do like caves and perches to hang. I have 5 tanks and my lion reef is my favorite.
Ok Sir. Thank you kindly. After all the negative feedback in regards to the eel including probable escape and too much waste made, I have sadly decided to not purchase the eel. I will just stick to lionfish. I was so excited and passionate about getting a snowflake eel until all of the negative feedback I have heard from people on reef2reef. But I guess that is why this site is here, to get answers. I guess the answers to my questions are simply not what I want to hear. No worries. Thank you again for your info my good man.

Mixing predatory fish and reefs can be difficult. I would look at doing a softy/macro algae tank it would be able to run with higher nutrients and would be more forgiving.

if you really want the eel I would keep an eye out for 75g tank, it would be much better suited to house a snowflake eel.

I have a jeweled moray in a fowlr and I love him, people do keep eels in reefs we just gave you the issues to consider. As far as bioload go, again I wouldn't worry about that; there are many ways to manage. I have 4 lionfish eating live prey in a 90g reef. I run an algae reactor and 25% water change every 3 weeks. I used to run nopox, which also works. My reef is lps dominant so any additional nutrients are actually appreciated.

Are you keeping sps, if so that might be more of a concern. For the most part an eel keeps to the bottom, hangs in a couple of caves. Comes out to eat and occasionally swim around. Have you ever looked at the dwarf golden eel, they wouldn't be as destructive as a snowflake may possibly be.

I have a snowflake eel in my reef tank with no problems, I hand feed him when I see him swimming around and he only gets what he will eat while is about 2 krill a day. He doesn't produce too much waste, my foxface makes more waste than him
