I have a new clove polyp that is infested with Arminid Nudibranchs. I have removed all that I can find as well as the egg sacs, but I imagine there are still babies hiding in the polyps. I dipped it in Coral Rx before I added it to the QT, but it didn't kill them. How do I go about using a FW dip. Do I need to match ph, temp and how long can I dip it in the FW. If I need to, how do I match ph? Thank you!

Thank you! I was trying to get the best possible pictures I could for ID! Someone told me that they might be an Arminid Nudibranch, clove eating!

You can FW dip everything but SPS for up to 5 minutes. Temp match the water.

Thank you! I will get that done this morning! It's not going to be very happy, I've already been pulling egg sacs & nudibranchs out of it and I can tell it doesn't like it! :)
Any idea why the Coral Rx didn't zap the nudi's, it killed off some other things, a gorilla crab that I didn't see for one!

I wonder if Bayer would do a better job with nudi's....I have no experience.

I've never had a problem with Bayer. What is critical is to minimize any getting into your DT....so I rinse twice in tank water before going back into the DT. Also, if you can, remove the coral from the plug or rock before dipping. Rock will hold residual Bayer, so try to avoid dipping rock along with the coral.

Good to know! The frag is really dirty, I was thinking of separating it to try and get it cleaner, plus it's kind of hard to get between some of the polyps to see if there are any egg sacs remaining. I have never fragged anything before, so I'm a bit nervous about it!

That's strange. IME; Coralrx is pretty good at eradicating most hitchhikers. But like all coral dips, it doesn't kill the eggs. +1 to Bayer dip.

That's what I thought! I knew it wouldn't kill the eggs, but I thought for sure it would kill anything else! I pulled at least 6 Nudi's off that seemed to be alive and well! I do believe that I will be picking up some Bayer! Thank you!

I just finished the dip and as expected it didn't like it very well! I had to use a turkey baster to blow the stuff off of it as swirling it wasn't doing much good. It was amazing how much junk was in the bottom of the container when I was finished. I found a couple of more egg sacs that I removed and some came off when I was rinsing it, I hope that I've gotten all of them, but I'm not sure. The polyps are pretty tight in some areas. I will probably have to dip again. How long should I wait before I do? The eggs that I might have missed will need to hatch out, but I've no idea how long that would take. For now, I will watch it and see how it does, it already looks better just because it is so much cleaner. Thanks!!!

I went down to check on my coral and noticed a black area on it. Right after the dip it was a yellow color! I have an ammonia badge in the tank, anything else I should check or watch for? I'm assuming this is die off of something that didn't like the FW. Thanks!

Right after dip!

Help, I Found Another One! I went down to check on the coral last night and I found another one alive crawling on the frag. I'm about to Nuke this thing, at the very least I'm about ready to separate it, keep part and get rid of the rest! I do not want these in my DT and I don't want them to get on the other coral that I have in QT. My goodness, Coral Rx didn't kill them, FW dip didn't kill them. I will be in town tomorrow and Bayer is on my shopping list!

When using Bayer, I've always dosed 5 mL per cup of water for 10 minutes.

I decided to separate the coral tonight, I was able to just break it apart and I wound up with 3 pieces. I found another Nudi and a couple of egg sacs. And lo and behold in the middle of the frag I find a black tipped crab alive and well! A good hitchhiker would have been nice! Oh well, at least I will have a nice coral to enjoy once it is all cleaned up!
