Gate Valve Flow Direction

I’m setting up a bean animal overflow on my new build, and installing a Spears gate valve on the drain. There is no arrow cast in the side of the valve to indicate flow direction; is there a right/wrong way to install the valve?

It can be used either way, it should be marked on the knob which way to turn to open and close, but as far as which way the water flows through it does not matter
