General illness question(s)

@Jay Hemdal. I am going through the various forums picking up information before I get started with my build. It seems like there are a lot of sick fish questions every night with a lot of folks being helpful but sometimes with differing opinions. Have you or anyone else considered starting a sticky thread on common diseases, parasites, etc. (with pictures) and the common methods of treatment. Possibly another sticky on general first aid, because accidents and or fights happen. Just some thoughts that might help newbies as a quick reference.

There actually is a pretty robust set of stickys here. Go to the top of the disease section and the third one down is a link to some sub-menus. In that are some pretty good info sheets there. When I get the time, I'm going to edit those. They are well written, but I noticed some pictures of diseases that are misattributed to a different disease, and there is a bit of a tendency for the author to over-extrapolate from other fields.

In addition, the second sticky down is a note that I wrote instructing people how to post a good problem report. It is difficult to give good advice if people don't supply us with enough background info.

As far as conflicting advice, yes, that does happen, but not nearly as bad as on Facebook groups (grin). If I see really bad advice, I try to correct it, but I let minor differences of opinion slide, as nobody is right all the time....
