I just got a goldflake. He went through quarantine for about 3 weeks. He eats like a champ and is very active. I put him in my 150 gallon display 3 days ago. He is in there with a hippo tang, yellow tang and 5 chormis. The yellow tang and him are not friends but the fighting seems pretty mild. I'm not sure if the two spots on him are ich or bruising from the yellow tangs tail. I added a cleaner shrimp to the tank from a different tank of mine. Thanks in advance for any help.

Could be ick, could be lympho. What was the QT procedure?

He was first in a quarantine tank with live rock and a cleaner shrimp ( I've always had good success with using cleaner shrimp, my blue tang was on the verge of dying from ich at a lfs and a cleaner shrimp brought him back to life in a couple of weeks) once he was eating well I moved him into another quarantine tank treated with Chloroquine phosphate. He really is doing very good. He's feed algae every morning and I feed lrs reef frenzy at least twice a day and I have a auto feeder feed pellets twice when I'm at work.

Feed plenty of food. I add vita chem, selcon twice a day to meals. I feed plenty of Nori as well.

I would try to use a fish trap to catch the yellow tang if I were you.

For just under 2 weeks. I got it from my wife who is a veterinarian.

OK. So Ideally you would treat for 30 days straight. I wouldn't be surprised if he still had ich, but hopefully not. How does he look today?

I just ordered a fish trap from brs. The more I watch them the yellow tang is a real jerk to him. Once I catch the yellow tang I want to put him in either a acclimation box or a quarantine tank and release him later. I've had him for years and kind of attached to him even if he's a jerk.

He still has the spots but his color looks great and ate like a champ for 3 meals today and ate a good amount of one of those alage doughnuts

Are they getting bigger at all? If they get bigger, then it's lympho. If they fall off (but don't get bigger) anytime between now and thursday then it's possible it's ick.

How's the gold flake angel doing? Is he still eating aggressively or has the yellow tang bothered him enough and he is just shying away from the tang?

They don't look bigger. It's hard to see them in my white lights but now that my blues are on I should see them better. If it's lympho there's nothing really to treat with is there?

He's eating very well. He goes crazy for the food when I first drop it. It's super weird though him and the tang sleep right next to each other at night.

I guess you probably have the time to wait for the trap to come, but you probably want to keep an eye on them since it will also take a couple more days for the yellow tang to feel safe to go into the trap. If things don't look good for the angel, you may want to drain the tank, if practical, to catch the fast moving yellow tang. This will put the least stress on the angel, instead of chasing the tang with a net.

If it's lympho, then no, just less stress and high quality food and clean water.

I really don't want to catch the yellow tang with a net he's been moved to 3 different houses and loses his mind anytime I even hold a net and even catching him out of a 20 gallon quarantine tank with nothing in it proved very difficult. The goldflake seems happy and is eating well so hopefully I don't have to drain to much of the tank.
