I will probably get a controller (without having a chiller.... will connect it to a fan) and I have a couple of heaters I use now, but was wondering, for 100g or so total water, what heater you guys would recommend?

I prefer to go over-kill and not need it, and plan to keep a back-up heater plugged in set to to 4 degrees cooler or so (so it only kicks on if the main one fails basically) not connected to the controller.

Either way..... what heater should I look into?

Finnex are really good, jager’s are good too, although one just went bad on me after a few months. Neotherms explode... so there’s that...
ultimate is
Ranco temp controller
w/ titanium finnex without internal temp control. Super accurate and safe, lol.

The one I am looking at looks like it controls the heater but I want to be able to connect a fan to cool in summer too.

This is what I am eyeing.

I am one of the few that likes the Neotherms haha. By design they will more likely fail in the off position. I have 2 in my tank, one set lower as a back up, and then I am also using my APEX to monitor other things that might indicate a failure and cut power haha.

Jaeger. These have simply been bomber for me. I hear horror stories all the time with heaters. I have had several over the course of decades and only had one go bad ever (after YEARS of use). It had been through 3 different nano tanks. My APEX caught it shut down my heater (and lights). It did fail on. Had another in the garage and just swapped it out.

Very impressed with them. They are also really inexpensive -but price is apparently not indicative of quality...
