ok so my tank is drilled in the upper left hand corner with a 3x7 overflow box installed. ive searched and cannot find a fix for the gurgling im getting from my standpipe. this is not a HOB overflow and not RR. coming off the bulkhead i have a T . coming off the T is a stand pipe capped off with a hole drilled in it. the other side is 1" PVC going down to the sump. theres 2 45's and the tip is barely touching the water in the sump at a 45 degree angle. ive been trying to get rid of this for 2 weeks and its driving me crazy. i put tape over the hole and messed around more or less air, to little the box gurgles, to much the stand pipe gurgles. tonight i stuck a little filter pad in there to try and muffle the sound and doesnt really help. ive messed with return and have mag7 on ball valve thats maybe %50 closed right now. still gurgles. Let's see... Where is the sound coming from when everything is wide open with the hole drilled into the cap? From the overflow box? Do you have a video of this? How many drain lines do you have total?

Is there any noise in your sump? Something like a jacuzzi?

Is there enough room to put a 90* facing downward into the tank side of the bulkhead?

1 drain line. no noise from sump. if i take the cap off it gurgles really bad out of the standpipe. if i put the cap on and plug the hole with my finger it starts gurgling out of the overflow box. no video sorry. i did try putting an upside down 90 in and i did nothing. with the cap on it sounds like its wide open just a little less noise.

Try putting the 90* back and drilling a larger hole into the cap. If you have done this already then I am out of ideas.

Maybe someone can step in and help.

In my system I have three drains. One that is completely submerged and sits about 6" under the water. I have a gate valve and have it dialed to handle about 95% of the water going into my sump. So no air goes into this pipe when running. The second pipe is at the surface and handles the rest ~5%. This water sticks to the side of the PVC and Has has a "core" of air so it doesn't make noise either. The third is just a backup.

The goal is to have the correct amount of air and water mixing to gather to creat the quietest flow possible. So my suggestion is to drill a larger hole into the cap. I am not positive this will work, but I don't think it will hurt anything.

yeah bigger hole just makes it louder in standpipe. my drain is at alittle bit of angle going out of the T then about a foot it hit the first 45 and 6" later it hits the other 45 and drains out. im scratching my head cause i dont know what to do. its a used tank and i dont know how long ago the overflow was put in.

Hopefully someone else will jump in with some help. It seems like you have tried everything that I would try also.

I had this problem to, I Completely tore down my first attempt at pLumbing the overflow. I re plumbed it and this is how it looks now. Also in the top hole I stuck it down till it sounded best.

I adjusted the air tube up or down until it flowed the best

So I tried the air tube thing and that helped a little but didn't solve the problem. So I started messing around with the drain pipe a put it at a slight angle and I think that gave the air a way to flow up the pipe without gurgling. So hopefully problem solved. Thanks
