I have a 100 gallon corner acrylic tank that measures 48" x 48" length 24" tall and 18" deep. I have a hair algae problem and can not figure out the source nor a solution. I removed all of my rock and put it in a bin with a phosphate sponge for three days. Removed my sub straight and completly replaced all of my sand with aggrogite and some new sand ( from my local fs) Replaced my rock and scrubbed off as much of the algae as possible before placing it back into my tank. I have one maroone clown fish, one green chromis, one yellow eye tang, one black damsel, a yellow dotty back, one lawn mower blenny( who eats no algae at all !!!!!) a snow flake eel, and a cleaner shrimp. Along with a good amount of assorted sps and lps coral. My water tests out pretty good ammonia 0 nitrate 0 nitrite 0 phosphate below .25... calcium 420 ph 8.1 dkh 9 I am out of answers. I change water with nsw every week. top off with rodi. all filters are brand new. I feed my fish a small amount of pellet food every other day. I feed my coral phytoplankton every other day with two cap fulls per instructions, and zoo plankton every other day two cap fulls per instructions. After re stocking the rock and coral every thing looked good for about two weeks. Now I am seeing all of the sub straight growing hair algae. Some of the rocks the algae is coming back as well. I have 1 watt led lights 100 blue 100 white per fixture and have two fixtures. I also run gfo in a large reactor. Currently there is twice as much gfo in the reactor to try to eliminate phosphates. I am going to not feed any thing in the tank for now. I have turned off my lights now and will keep them off for two days. I am out of answers. I also add phosphate removing solution. I had a horrible problem with phosphate in the beginning my level was at 2.0 now this algae is growing back and I am out of answers. Next is to try two algae eating slugs. Little hope. I was running my blue lights of 8 hours and my white for 3 hours. I seems like the blue lights just grow algae. I am stumped I wish I could get the answer and be done with this troublesome algae.. Also running a refugeium. Any advice can only help at this point
