Let’s start with this

Parms: SG 1.025, Am 0, nitrate 4ppm, Ak 11.0, ca 400, ph4 0.01

I’m battling hair algae and have been dosing NOPOX however I’m still having issues. Now my problem is I don’t want to continue NOPOX due to low Po4. I know if the no3 and po4 get out of whack it can lead to red slime and it appears this is already happening. It happened before and had to dose chemiclean and it was a nightmare.

Is my no3 really high enough to cause this outbreak? I used a Red Sea fest and tried again with the high range instructions and didnt get any reading so I’m assuming that my no3 is 4ppm which is the highest reading for the low range test.

Any insight appreciated as always!

Have you tried natural methods like adding more of a cuc and a good ol' fashion arm and tooth brush? This usually works for me. I could understand if you have a larger tank and can't do the manual scrubbing.
