Final update: I had to move my feather duster after he popped his top, but my anemone finally settled his foot down and picked a spot to live...for now

I’m back as this problem is still ongoing. He won’t rest his foot anywhere and has been around my tank. His foot has been balled up the whole time. He is eating what my maroon clown feeds him, he opens up and he is not loosing color. Any thoughts before I throw in the towel and get another? He has been growing too

Actually I’m starting to think he might be a condy as his tentacles are staying short and he doesn’t look like googled pics. I’m going to try putting him in the rocks

What are your water parameters? and tank set up? The rock looks rather new.

That is a lta. I would leave it alone. Constantly moving them/ touching them will stress them out.

The feather duster loosing its crown can be a sign of sudden change in water parameters.

My ammonia is .25. Nitrate and nitrite is 0. The feather duster lost his crown because my anemone Park right on top of it for a while, my other one still has his crown. My tank has been up for four month and stable for two of them.

That Nh3 is high. Have you had a death in the tank? Might could use a water change to get it down. My Nh3 and No2 stay at 0. My nitrates run 5-10 ppm.

Two new additions. Tomorrow is water change day though

It’s because I added two big poopers and the tank hasn’t caught up yet

Then it most likely is the mini cycle the tank is going through from the new additions as well as the tank is still new.

If you can get the water parameters stable long term, it should come back given some time.

I don’t know what to think anymore. I checked on him this morning and he is firmly gripped to the rock. I don’t know why, but at least he is finally happy

Nems are like that. Very particular about their environment. I think this is why everyone says that they should only be added to established tanks. I never bothered with that line of thought cuz I knew that my ocd would insure that I stayed on top of the water conditions, lol! My nems were the first into the tank, my lta the first animal along with my cuc. The lta moved around the first month till he found his spot and has been there now about 6 months. He worried me constantly trying all of the places I least wanted him to be. My BTA moved one time and has been there since. Are you feeding him?

Check water parameters. They are likely better than yesterday as the ammonia could have been consumed by the tank.

Watch it. Lta's i have kept and seen attach to rock through the sand or to the glass through the sand. Usually straight to the rock could be a sign of not enough light. But it is a good step forward. I would not touch it.

I will double check when I get home (at work) but I will leave him and see if he moves. I am currently seeking out a new light now (used bin at the pet store), because I have one of those beginner MarineLand Reef Led's now and I'm thinking of just adding a second light onto it

Depending on the housing size and your diy skill, you may be able to look in to diy'ing your own led system with better components. Or I would watch the for sale section to see if you can pick up any good deals.

I run T5's over my bta's.

My lfs has two really nice pieces used for a good price. The only thing holding me back is that I’m currently building two additional refugiums and my budget is going into that right now. So I may have to make the lay wait for only one more week

I don't know what his foot is attached to, but he walked down and found another home

After working on the tank all day yesterday, I finally discovered the root cause of the problem. My engineer gobies (the bullies of my tank) keep nipping at his foot because his favorite spot blocks one of their cave exists. Now I have to decide who I want to keep as it's been almost a month now

Interesting. Havent heard of that situation but i rarely hear of engineer gobies. It makes sense.

Once it gets healthier, it may potentially injure or kill them. Some cases of lta's killing fish. Not as much as carpets though.
