Hi so I have a 550L tank and a 150L sump. Looking at the recommended watt for heaters I needed roughly 2 300W heaters to maintain a stable 26degrees throughout the water. I placed 2 300W heaters At 26 degrees in the refugium section of the sump last night and I’ve checked the water temperature today in the display tank and it’s showing nearly 28 degrees? Bare in mind I’m using a thermometer right next to the inflow pipe?

Any recommendations on what to do?

Also previously I was using 2 100 watt heaters in the display tank and it was keeping all the water at a constant 26 degrees?

hi ,put one in tank, leave 1 in sump set 1 degrees lower as backup :)

:( I thought having a sump meant no equipment in the tank

correct one should be enough, tank and sump water should be almost same unless long run from basement or etc

So did u not get the right watt? dang it the sump is literally underneath the tank. Should I swap one of the 300Ws with a 100W heater?

yes so one 300 should do the job in either tank or sump..

you are going from 200 -600watt ,why?? one 300 is enough ;)

Probably the dial on the heaters is not as accurate as your thermometer so just adjust the dial on the heaters down a little.

Or am i missing the point?

Is the thermometer a heater controller? If not then the internal thermostat on the heaters are off. Adjust them so they hold a temp to what your thermometer shows.

If you have two then you should put them on a single controller so they shut off together on your desired temp. Otherwise the calibration set from the factory may vary and you could very well have one heater staying on longer then your set point.
