Hello,
Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Geoff, I'm 25 and have a 75g reef ready tank with a 30g sump/refugium. I'm relatively new to the hobby and absolutely love it. I have wanted a saltwater tank since I was a kid. I have always been amazed with the ocean, and I'm stoked to have 75g of it in my apartment.
I will familiarize you all later with all the problems and successes I have had already. Today I just wanted to say hi, hoping I can be embraced in this amazing community, and make some friends.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Have a great day.

Hello Rooster. I am new too. I have learned a lot from reading the posts of others and asking questions. Everyone is very helpful and want to see each other succeed.

Hey Geoff, welcome to R2R! This is a great community with a ton of helpful fellow reefers! How long has your tank been up and running?

Hey, thanks for the tip on the local forum. Your from Lexington I see. Small world. Where do you go to buy fish and coral. Our LFS's are mediocre.

Hello!
I have a 75g tank with a 30g sump/ refugium. My tank has been up and running for about two months now.
I'm having a severe diatom algae issue right now. My tank started with dechlorinated tap water but now I'm using ro/di. My protein skimmer has been up and running since Tuesday. I was told to wait for a while.
The reading I have done on diatoms is it should phase out especially with water changes and the use of ro/di water. I perform a 5g water change every Saturday and top off with ro/di of course.
I'm new and kinda in panic mode. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the warm welcomes, Geoff

I'd just keep on keeping on, nothing good in this hobby happens quickly. The diatoms will be gone before you know it. Do you have any clean up crew in there?

I do have a clean up crew. 6- turbos, 4 coralline snails, 4 blue legged crabs, 4 red legged crabs, 1 emerald crab, 1 urchin, 1 sand sifting star. I appreciate the advice. Seems like the common theme in the saltwater hobby is patience.
