Hello from WV

I had been observing him and hadn't noticed anything on him. Looked close today and thought I saw some spots that were ick, but then they weren't there a couple hours later. I'm assuming it was just something on his skin. (At this point I'm pretty paranoid about any and all spots) Either way he developed some red blotches today, so I'm setting up my 10 gallon to treat him with Furan2. After I get his bacterial infection under control I'll then treat him for ick and go from there (unless the ich treatment should be first that is). I'm frustrated and haven't totally decided on trying to setup a tank and catch everyone. Thanks for your advice as always.

Go ahead and treat the infection first. I will say that there's not much point in treating the one fish for ick then putting him back in the display where there's ick present. he will just get reinfected. It's going to be tuff, brutal and a huge pain, but it's worth it to wipe the slate clean and be sure ick is gone from the display.

Well I have my foxface in the hospital tank with Furan2 and he is not a happy camper. He darted around the tank for a good while and now is just laying all camoed up in between the PVC I have in there and the bubble wall. I have my ammonia badge in there and I must say it's pretty sensitive...it changed when I fed him and I had to add more Seachem Stability to bring it back down. I know I'm supposed to do a water change after the 2nd dose of Furan2, but can I do a small one in between doses to help with the ammonia if I need to? I mean if it gets dire of course I will regardless of the effect on the Furan, but just wondering what everyone elses process is when using furan2.

I try not to do a water change until it's time to according to the directions, but if the ammonia is there, then you gotta take care of it. If you have to do a water change, then do so. You should be able to figure out how much furan2 to add to the new water to keep the dosage up though. I'm not a math person, so don't ask me to do the math for you lol. Numbers just arn't my thing ;)

Welcome! glad to have you here

He's been through one full course of furan2 and I'm not sure his red tail section looks any better. Guess I'm going to do a second course and see if it gets any better. Are there any more effective medications for bacterial infections or is furan2 good?

So I'm debating using a Rubbermaid tub for a QT tank to hold all my fish to eradicate Ich from my display. It would be a much cheaper alternative than buying another glass aquarium, would this be okay to keep my fish in for the 72 days needed to get rid of Ich? I'd get an oversized hob filter of course as well.
