So my snipers sps red devil mushrooom went missing this morning. last night it was just fine but when i looked at the tank this morning it was missing. it was only about the size of a dime and at night it can shrink up pretty small. im worried that maybe a fish ate it but i have seen a fish take one of my baby shrooms into its mouth and spit it out like it wasnt something it would consider food, so i assumed that fish maybe dont eat shrooms? its possible that it simlpy did not like its spot and chose to let go of its footing to relocate somewhere else in the tank (ive found a shroom that i thought was long lost but re-did some rock scape and there it was). my question is that do you think a fish COULD actually eat the baby shroom? and do you think i should leave the tank be and hope it pops up at a later date? or should i move the rocks out of the tank and search through the remnants of sand i have left? (I dont have much sand left in the tank from the vacuuming over the last 2 years). im more tempted to look for it by taking out the rocks since its such a valuable and rare shroom but i dont want to stress the rest of the tank out doing it. will the shroom die if its out of sight and light??

It surely detached. If you're lucky, it may pop up again elsewhere, but I wouldn't go about dismantling things trying to find it, especially if it was small to begin with.

Mushrooms will detach as a survival mechanism; something about that spot wasn't right, whether it be flow, lighting, food, etc.

Had a superman that detached and found it's way to the other side of the tank, I wouldn't stress too much.

my rockscaping isnt that intricate either-i went to more of a minimalistic approach for a better all around flow but im more concerned about the nitrate spike when i move the rocks around. i actually prepared 10 gallons of salt water this morning just in case i do decide to go fishing. thanks for the responce-mucho appreciated. im encouraged that you dont think a fish nipped at it

My jawbreaker shroom detached, wound up in the MP40 and was cut up where it couldn't recover. Happened when I went away on vacation. Lucky you found it!

man im glad u found taht piece .....

thanks for the advise. i just find it wierd that all my tie dye babies are in the same area and none of them seem to mind the flow or lighting. but i did put it in an area with both less flow and less lighting just in case it was either of those things that caused it to detach. its been a couple days now and it seems to be doing ok :)
