Finally in the midst of my large upgrade from a 46 gallon non drilled tank to the 90 gallon rr I purchased years ago. Got to busy but its finally time. Still a ways away but gathering equipment and building the stand.
With the sump I'm trying to figure out what is best, I want to still have room under the cabinet for other equipment without it being a PITA to do anything. Also wanting to keep the electrical safely with the sump. Most electrical will be in a cabinet above the tank but some will be under such as return pump skimmer etc.
A 24 inch sump would fit so easily and be a breeze to work around but a 30 inch sump would also fit well. Looking at the Fiji sumps on brs.

Go with the biggest sump your stand and equipment can support. I fits a standard 48 in long 90g, a 30g sump would be a good size, and that will give you enough space for dosing containers if you happen to dose in the future. The extra water volume by going bigger will be better.

Bashsea Sumps are top notch, and built to last. You can also pick up a nice Trigger system sump that has blemishes from here https://www.triggersys.com/ts/blemished/

I'm trying to see the differences between the smart and signature series of the bashsea sumps. I like the smart series can be 18 instead of 15 wide but some of the features in the signature series are nice. Not sure what the running is of the sumps dont see much of a figure posted on that but I'm thinking 30x18 would be enough volume for a 90gallon

They made the Smart Series if you want to run the Triton method, instead of the traditional method with a fuge. A quick note on the Triton method is that instead of having your skimmer in the first chamber, you will run your Fuge with macro algae, and then the skimmer would be in the 2nd chamber. But with this sump, you can run both.

What are the bio refugium series catered towards then? Trying to figure what is best is very challenging so many options.

Here is Bashsea product line, and will give a better description than I can. But the Bio series is just a rimless sump if you want a sleeker look.

Thanks I was looking at their line onthe page just trying to figure out which is best for me. I like that the smart series comes in 18 wide but do not plan on running triton, although I guess I can still run it regular style and it's nice to have the option to change to Triton in the future if I wanted.
The signature series seems to have a few more options I like as well as the black body buy only comes 15 wide so doesnt maximize the volume.

You can definitely run the sump either way. I have the small Smart series on2 tanks (90, and
50)

What did you end up on settling on? I'm looking at the fiji-30 myself.

Went with the bashsea smart series very happy with it seems itll fit plenty of equipment and is quality built. Havnt set up the tank yet but hopefully soon
