i am looking to replace my Iwaki with a much larger better pump... i am currently looking at the reeflo wahoo and marlin but i have heard they were noisy... i am looking for a pump with around 2000gph but most importantly very quiet. any suggestions?

thanks

From my exp reeflo pumps especially darts are very quiet if plumbed right... I have one on my current tank and I can't hear it all... As long as you place a rubber mat under the pump and use spaflex on the connections it should be quiet...a dart seems a little bigger than what your looking for thou... Laguna makes great pumps there askol / atb / red dragon/ etc... There all the same pump a laguna motor with different volutes.. You can pick up the 1500 on sale for $99 a lot of the time from az ponds... There the best pumps around IMHO...

What size tank and what are using the pump for??? You would be amaZed I have my dart on a closed loop 70gal cube and it's not enough...
120 reef mainly lps buts starting to mix it up...i really like the pump the only thing i dont understand is size of the inlet and outlet...2 and 1.5 inch seems a little big

That's correct a 2" inlet and 1.5" outlet... That's how they keep them quiet and somewhat cooler... Bigger plumbing means less resistance and friction and in return it's more efficient, cooler, and quieter... Are you using it as a return??? I would split the output to two 1.5" returns and you can also tee off it and run your reactors and anything in the sump that requires a pump...

would reducing the return to two 1 inch returns hurt the pump in anyway along with running two reactors and a uv sterilizer? i would really hate to have to replace my bulkheads and everything

Just run 1.5" pipe all the way up to the bulkheads and then put a reducer to 1" on the bulkhead... Works like a charm... That's how my tank is set up... You could stick with the 1" pipe if ya want but it will blast out of those bulkheads like a cannon...

i can redo all the pipping up untill the bulkhead where i have glued 1 inch pvc...would it be ok to come up to that in1.5 and reduce there?

Yeah that will work fine.. It just helps having less resistance all the way up there... Most people prolly use 1" all the way and say the heck with it... But there is little things you can do like I mentioned above to make it much better...
