So I’m trying to decide on a Skimmer for my non drilled 40g breeder. I’m looking at either the reef octopus 1000 or the tunze 9004dc. Any opinions on these or maybe a different one too. Thanks for your help

Both are good skimmers. However i'm more of a reef octopus fan myself. I currently use the 110INT in my sump and love it. No issues whatsoever, and it broke in fairly quickly and easily. Plus Coralvue customer service is excellent.

Agree with the Reef Octo suggestions. I've ran several Reef Octopus skimmers over the past decade and still have my original extreme 200 (About 10 years old now) in storage because it's built like a brick house and works like a champ. Never had a problem with any of their skimmers except for normal wear and tear.

Plus, as mentioned, coralvue support is AWESOME!
