I have had my reef tank running for 6 months and will be moving in a few months. I figured I'd take this opportunity to set up a tank with everything I could need in the future. My question is what I should be looking into for equipment. Chillers, Controllers, top off systems and so on. I'm fairly new to this so Im having trouble on knowing where to start.

Right now I have a 75 gallon tank with a octopus skimmer and sock for the sump. Also LED lights and one power head.

I plan to find a drilled tank 75 gallon or 90.

I will be building a new tank stand so I would like to have everything I could REALLY need before I start.

Thanks

I would recommend a top off for the tank. That will keep the water level in the sump constant which will make your skimmer run better.

If you have AC, you can probably get by using a fan(s) in the sump. The leds don't give off much heat.

You probably want to add a least one more powerhead for circulation.

You didn't mention macro algae in the sump. This would be a good addition if you don't already have it.

Ok. I have the fans but can't get under 78 degrees. I'm down in South Florida and thinking the Chiller would be less expensive then running the ac all day. 75 and humid on Christmas Eve..... I haven't looked into micro algae but I will.

What about control systems and r/o systems. Are they worth the money?

And anything else im not considering?
