So I recently transported a reefer 250. I believe the Emergency overflow threaded pipe was broken during transport (the threaded part) I didn't start leaking until today, about 1 week later. Where can I order the replacement part, or how can I replace it with stock homedepot/lowes parts? I managed to slow the leak to a trickle by messing with the flow rate.

Thank you in advance.

I do not know, you may have to contact red sea direclty.
i know that the red sea pipes are metric so trying to find an off the shelf component from lowes maybe a challenge.

That center pipe does look crooked in the picture.

If it is the emergency overflow, you could just have a noisy tank and open the main flow up most of the way to prevent the need for the overflow. Then if no water is flowing down the overflow and you still have a leak, then the issue may be where the pipe coming from the top screws down into the stand.

Yes, I opened up the flow to where it's a bit noisy, that stopped the leak. If I set it to the flow I wanted so it's quiet, it leaks from that screwed part.

it could just be the oring did not seat correctly or fell out in the move???

Thank you!! I did find the part online and ordered it. I didn't use that site because that's in canada (shipping is more)

I found it at:

cool deal. I was panic searching as if it was my tank that had the issue ;)

I do understand that feeling, done it a few times myself lol
I really appreciate your help tho, I got it sorted out for how. Next week I'll have to figure out now to replace that piece, I'm sure it will be a project.

well, maybe on my first red sea build i put the pipes in wrong holes and had to take it apart when water was in it.

turn off the flow and put in a small sicce like pump to get the water out of the overflow chamber. when you get the last 1" or 3" of water, put a bucket under the pipe in the sump section and slowly uncsrew the pipe just enough to let the little bit of water trickle out slowly, quarter to half a turn. Or, you can unscrew it all the way and have a small mini flash flood of a gallon or two into the sump area.

Ok that sounds like a plan

On a side note, any idea what fitting I need that attaches to that 42202 part so I can use pvc pipes in case I ever upgrade my sump?

I have RS 750 and 900s so i dont know the exact size for 250. but the concept is on my return lines, i think i bought a metric 25mm coupling and then the metric to US converter. the metric to US size converter, the metric end is glued in the metric coupling.

or...they make a metric to standard union (they were always out of stock of these when i did mine but they seem to be back in stock now, go figure).

be very careful when cutting the red sea pipe, it is thin wall and it can easily crack into the bulkhead/gasket piece that screws on to make a water tight fit.

I have seen some other DIY hacks on R2R on this issue to, I am sure if you key word search it other ideas would pop up.
