I'm setting up a custom drilled 40 breeder with a 20 gallon sump. The pump I'll be using is a ecoplus 633 ~590gph.

The pump will sit at the bottom of the sump and pump up about four feet to a return nozzle with two 45° elbows through a 1/2 inch return line.

Max head for the pump is 7.5 feet so I'm guessing that I'll lose about half.

Anybody have any real calculations instead of guesses?

Flow chart for your pump Shows around 280 GPH at 4 feet plus a couple elbows would probably drop it to around 250ish, hard to know for sure but at least a close ball park.

Might want to consider using 3/4" return line to preserve as much flow as possible.
