Help with Schedule 80 Bulkhead

So I have a leaky bulk head and want to loosen the nut and reseat the bulk head. Problem is that I can't get the nut to budge and there isn't room up there to get my channel locks up there. Does anyone have any ideas!

You might be able to fit a small strap wrench.

Thought about that but would have to come down pretty much at 90 degrees.

Yes, strap wrench seems like a great idea. I’m sure an oil filter wrench would give you the angle and diameter.

Not sure if this one is big enough but all you need is a little bit of grab on the nut.

Thanks everyone for the help. The bulkhead is an 1 1/2” bulkhead. The telescoping basin wrenches look like the would work. I am hopeful Harbor Freight will carry them. I would love to go get it today because I am so impatient and want to move forward. Can order one if needed and be more of a grown up about it!

Undo the union. lift the end of the tank and slip a piece of PVC under . Fix bulkhead.

Great idea. Put the tank is pretty heavy! 650 gallon 1” acrylic. If nothing else works I can try that.

I’ve squirted a bit of WD40 into stubborn bulkhead threads before to help loosen the nut. Have personally spent more time than I’d care to admit wedged under a tank stand cursing at offending bulkheads.

Thanks! Definitely worth a shot! No doubt you have spent your fare share of time under the tank like that. I have invested too much already and have exposed those around me to things that no one should hear. Also I very illogical just lay there for a couple minutes looking at it like it will spontaneously fix itself!!!!

Make a Strap wrench by slotting a piece of iron pipe or drilling holes in it and use a piece of small aircraft cable or a leather belt as the strap.

There are many ways

handle length and strap size to suit your needs

I have always had to be. You cant get stuff here you can in a big city. So you wait 3 days to get it in the mail or you make something yourself.

Drill a hole in the end and stick a screwdriver in it for leverage.

Illogical?

When the nut won't budge, "The Stare" is my standard go-to move at times like these. I also beseech the Lord, and if those moves fail I'll go to a bar & get nipped and probably start a fight. I've never thought about coming on here before and asking for help but today I learned something. Thanks @Feet4Fish for posting!
