So I'm about to upgrade to a dd Pro 1500 525l tank, unfortunately I have to run the tank parallel with the floor joists, would I be okay? Tank is 5ft by 2ft wide. See photo of my joists. It will be running along that adjoining wall.

They look old and we'll used any chance of braceing oh ya congrats n nice move upR

I would add cross bracing and then support with house jacks. It may not hurt to add another joist, maybe 8 ft or so and tie it into the cross bracing and then support it with the house jacks.

Will support definayley be needed?

I will always error on the side of caution. My house cost far more than a tank, lol! I added bracing for a 120 gal tank on my main level even though it was up against a poured concrete wall. My next tank will be a 225 gal tank in the same position. I will add 2 2x8x8's, screwed together to form a header and then add 3 to 4 jacks to support it. The wuestion you ned to ask yourself is, will flooring give over time. Odds are the joist will be fine, but the 3/4 plywood flooring may not be so forgiving.

Below is a photo of when I supported my floor, and the new support will be in the same position.

I just did conversion from liter to gal, at 138 gals, you are talking roughly 1100 pounds of water. That doesn't include tank weight, equipment and such. So you could probably do what I did with the 2x8's and add a support wall along with cross bracing to tie the rafters together.

Yes I think I do need a way to try and re enforce it. For piece of mind really.

That's the main reason I did it. For a couple hundred bucks at most, it put me at ease.
