I'm new here and just started my first SW tank 4 weeks ago. I need to know if I can dispose of my tank water in the septic system or not. Have received conflicting answers..

Anyway hope you guys can answer the question for me It would be lots easier if I can ... lol

I dump mine in my septic through the utility drain and i have a 360g system. I change about 20g each week.

I have a septic tank and have been dumping waste water down for over 4 years no problem

Awesome news here. I've been running a hose out to the end of the back yard so as not to disturb the septic tank. I kinda thought dead grass patches were part of the saltwater hobby if you weren't on city sewer.

I dont dump mine into the septic. always felt that it would disturb the bacterial imbalance. I just run it out into the drive way. that said, I have killed a bush or two when I dumped it off the porch.

Like Lindsey I just pour mine onto the driveway and then dilute it with the hose. My grass around the driveway has never been affected. The driveway has been known to look a little salty from time to time though.

When I worked up north of the border (Tennessee) they would spread salt on the roads when it snowed. When it melted it all ran off to the shoulder of the road. In the spring the grass and weeds grew there just fine.

i dump my on the lawn and have yet to see a dead spot....granted its only ben a few months in the new house

Your tank water (even with the salt) is a lot less disturbing to the system than what gets flushed normally. :)
