Hi Everyone

Im not sure what you meant by air flow
But i was saying flow as in you need water movement a powerhead or wave maker pointed behind the rocks to avoid having stagnant water and “dirt” buildup

By flow I meant I have 2 powerheads. One pointed along the back, the other the front.

What is the price difference between sump and canister? And how much harder is a sump?
A sump is basically a second tank below your main tank. Water generally flows from one side to the other, passing through different "zones" that do specific things. For reef tanks, the standard pieces are things like filter socks and skimmers. It's this latter that I'd think differentiates a sump from a canister; a skimmer not only removes undesirables, it also aerates the water - drawing out CO2 and pulling in O2. This process helps with Ph control - which is important in a reef system. I suppose the equivalent would be an air-stone/bubbler hooked to an air pump if you are using a canister, now that I think about it...

Sumps aren't all that hard once they are set up. The up-front cost and challenge is very likely (almost certainly) greater than a canister, but the downstream benefit to a reef tank is significant.

As for pic, errrrrrrrrrrr!!! LOL. I did get a vid and you can see the spot very quick. But not sure if is good to judge on if it's ick or not. Hoping the other half can get a better pic. Turned the lights back off cause heard that will help with the stress if it is ick.

Canisters are about $100 and sumps are about $50 (diy) but you need to add a pump do it’s about $100-$150

Plus however you are going to use as a overflow i would recommend the eshopps type they are very good and easy to install ($50-$100)
