So I've got dragon ball zs and Rastas that were doing great for two weeks but now don't want to open all the way and only half the dragon ball zs open... Calcium alkalinity magnesium all good dosing coral color a two part calcium and mag biofuel and microbactor.... Blah... Any suggestions? I don't have the salt sadly to do a just to be safe water change

What are your exact numbers on params? lighting into? placement within the tank. are they in low flow?

Why you dosing all that stuff? Is your water really clean?

IMHO that sounds pretty normal to me . Ca,Alk,mag and a bacteria driven system .I run a similar system but my main focus is SPS .

I have lost quite a few not so cheap zoas recently and attribute it to a very clean enviroment leaving the so called good amphipods/copepods to find other means of food. That food appears to have been my clementines, purple hearted zoas, scar face, blue hornets etc . I have seen them late at night doing the dirty deed .I really don't care what everyone else may comment on the matter .I know for a fact it's them . They are big enough to grab new life spectrum pellets and run back in the rocks . I really just need to get a leopard wrasse to mow down the population.May not be what's going on with you but this is what I experienced when my zoas started to not open anymore.

To much light maybe? move them lower and see if that helps.

I have the same problem. I have lots of nice zoas doing great but I got another expensive pack from someone and now Im losing or have lost ....dragon ball z , jf bloodshot, spacemonsters, cherry charms. About 75% of what I got in this last pack is doing fine but 25% is not opening and going to crap. All other zoas seem fine.

Man I have had the same problem. I ordered a pack and ended up losing a few of them. I guess it's just luck of the draw. My Darth Maul's seem to be growing an an outstanding rate. Mine are under halides.

Are any of you running anything like Chemipure elite? For whatever reason mine don't seem to like that stuff at all.

I agree that your ca/mag/alk isn't bad. Not for softies anyway. As for lighting they just may need more time to acclimate maybe?

They've been in for over a week... My sps and lps all look better than my palys...which is weird because that's not how it usually goes... Maybe I'll go to lfs today pickup some salt and do change, I spent like 200 on high end palys at a swap and now they're all starting to look crappy

Yeah u better get a move on and try and fix it. I've never heard of a problem with chemipure. Have u done any water tests?

Maybe water too "clean" due to bacteria system (mb7 dosing)?

Have you looked into fauna or zeovit foods? I believe fauna makes a zoa food and zeovit makes pohl's extra which is supposed to help with zoa. In particular I'm thinking zeovit might help if you run ULNS. They are on sale now too.
