Hitchhiker Eel!!

My friend kept a snowflake eel with smaller fish like perculas and damsels. They all became dinner sooner or later. He never saw the snow flake eat them but they all went missing one by one. It was pretty safe to say the snowflake was the culprit.

Now that being said, that is one way to keep your livestock fresh.

Yep, definitely a snowflake eel! Such a cool hitchhiker! That looks like a pretty tiny one, so it would be fun to keep it. I honestly do not think he will pose any threat to your fish or inverts. I know they sometimes eat shrimp, but it's such a small eel and I'm guessing your fire shrimp is pretty large, so it's probably too big for him. Granted as he grows, that could change. However, I've had my snowflake eel for 8 months now and he's a model citizen. All of my snails, hermits, red mitrax crab, fighting conchs, etc have been perfectly fine. I've never seen him so much as mess with any of my inverts. Same goes for my fish. I have two small clownfish that he has never shown so much as the least bit of interest in.

If you decide to keep it, I'd just make sure your tank is escape proof. Eels are quite the escape artists. You'll need a snug fitting lid and to make sure there's no way for it to slither into your overflow box and plumbing.
