I just looked at a tank with a hob overflow can anyone help just want to know what you think pros cons ways to keep from over flowing

i have a lifereef overflow box on mine. I am very happy with it, i havn't had any problems with it and it doesn;t lose syphon on power outage's or when i shut my return pump off for maintenence

No when you have a power outage any drain will stop after it gets to a certain point. Some HOB overflows will lose there suction with a power outage and that is their down fall. Cause when power come back on the pumps will go and run the sump dry if it lost suction. I just got the CPR over flow and you can hook a lifter pump to it that will help keep the suction when power is lost.

I've used several kinds of hang on overflow for many years. They can be tricky to make quiet, but other then that they work great.

+1 i have to cpr it is nice, but i should have drilled the tank. the aqua lifter is good at keeping a seal for maybe an hour if the power went out, then it evenutally leaks air but its pretty worry free if you arent prone to power outages

thanks guys im getting a new tank next saturday and it has a hob overflow i was slightly worried but now no worries
