Are they really rare, do they have a place in modern reef aquaria?

I do remember wend I started the hobby a few years back that using the most common ones in the refugium was very backwards thing to do, since then things have changed and refugiums are back in fashion and with it I’ve seen a crazy growth on on demand and price on for some of the ornamental algaes. Some actually going for a crazy amount of £££, more than you would pay for your designer acro. And now after reading an article about some interest in people playing about with hybrids to create more algae to feed the demand I’d like to see what toughs other have about the subject.

Do ornamental algae’s have a place in modern reef aquaria?

Are they just as satisfying as keeping coral?

Is it a plague and you just don’t want it near your tank?

Do they wort the price tag?

As long as it’s rare and expensive want one?

:donno what you all think.

IMO....anything with the name holy grail, ain't worth the price tag. With that said, if your intention is to buy it as an investment, then the holy grail torch is worth it. But is it dies on you then...... :)
