I have a 20 gallon long that will be a reef tank. The fish will be 2 ocellaris or percula clowns, 1 royal gramma, 1 pink streaked wrasse, 3 firefish gobies, and a tail spot blenny. I will be using live sand. How many inches of sand should I have?

Probably best to keep in the 1-2” range depending

That should be plenty. Unless you have animals that need to burrow your sand is mostly for aesthetics. Just don't get too deep. I like about an inch myself.

30 lbs is good probably but depends on the dimensions of the tank. Bulk Reef Supply has a sand bed calculator. I might consider cutting back on your fish population though. It might help your sand bed be a little more efficient.

I don't have the fish yet. Someone recommended to add 3 firefish gobies and a tail spot blenny to my original stocking plan (the other fish). Should I change it to 1 firefish?

I wouldn't add that many at once in a new tank. Also, firefish can be grumpy towards each other so if doing multiple I'd add them all at the same time. Maybe do the blenny first and add the firefish later.

I wasn't going to add them at the same time. Did you read the part that said I don't have the fish yet? Will the firefish fight each other?

Seems like a lot for a small tank too.

I was going to have 2 clowns, 1 royal gramma, and 1 pink streaked wrasse but someone on here recommended to add a tail spot blenny (or lawnmower blenny) and some firefish. Maybe I will not do the firefish.

JMO, I would go with the four first fish and that's it. I have a 29 gallon with a pair of mature perc clowns and a young six line wrasse, I used to have a royal gramma before the wrasse. I really can't see myself putting a fourth fish in my tank. I like having some room for the fish to grow, also less fish means less food and less waste and less problems with over feeding in a small tank.

I'll probably first add the royal gramma and the pink streaked wrasse then after a few weeks add the clownfish. When there is some algae and depending on water parameters I will add the blenny.
