I have a 29g biocube

2 clowns

1 goby

1 blenny

1 quarter size tang

1 firefish

10 or more hermit crabs

And 1 cleaner shrimp

Questions is how long can I go without feeding em? Ill be gone starting today till Sunday afternoon?

If they are well-fed, they will be fine for a few days. Do you have a neighbor that can check in on them once a day?

I hope you have plans for that tang down the road, because he will outgrow your 29g quickly.

Ok than I think they will be fine and yes the tang will go back to the lfs once it outgrows it

I have done a couple weekend trips too without having someone feed the tank. Make sure your ATO is full and can handle that many days, in my case I add some extra RO water to the tank to make sure it lasted. I have yet to take a real vacation since owning my tank, I really need to find a sitter for it.

I know what you mean finding someone who knows what they are doing is hard

I feed no more than 5x a week skipping a day here and there and nevr had any issues. I have left for a 3 day weekend often and have had many fish live past 13 years in my systems. Healthy as can be and fat too.

Well I feed em before I left and left seaweed in there on clips. I won't be home till Sunday so I hope they will be ok

Very nerve racking taking vacations having a tank. I had to leave for work for a week and made my mom come and stay at my house to take care of it. I drew a picture of my filtration system and labeled what everything was. This way, if I needed her to check on something or needed to walk her through something over the phone, she would know what I was talking about when I said, "How is the skimmer doing? Are my socks overflowing?" I also wrote down what each fish eats and how/when to feed them. I spent about an hour with her going over how to test the water for me, etc. She did pretty well. If you can find a neighbor or friend you can trust and who is willing to learn how to keep an eye on it for you, hang onto them! The thing that scares me the most about leaving is that unless you are a tank owner, this person helping you cannot recognize if something is wrong with one of your fish. As we all know, time is of the essence when you have a sick fish. Someone with extra time on their hands should start up a fish babysitting business! Someone who knows the ropes, knows how to fresh water dip and treat sick fish. Money making business right there!

I took a weeklong vacation earlier this summer and had my neighbor across the street feed my fish while I was gone. I measured small amounts of frozen food and kept them in a pill-minder in the freezer. All he had to do was open the lid for each day on the pill-minder, drop the frozen food into a small container, add tank water and target feed with a syringe. Fortunately for me, my neighbor is extremely detail-oriented, so everything went off with a hitch. He kept my top-off reservoir full as well, even though he didn't need to. I paid him up front with a nice bottle of bourbon, so that probably helped as well. :)

That's good hopefully my brother has half the brains your neighbor did. My fish are on the line
