Hi guys,

I bought a 180g tank and am moving it on sunday. The tank has been up and running for over 7yrs.
I will be putting all the live rock back in and the corals but no fish.
How long should I wait to put fish in? I want to put in a pair of gold gold stripe maroon clowns and a nem to start.
Advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

Yes going to try and save as much as possible, I'm guessing about 60gals.

Set it back up and give it a few days.

Do some test. If there was any die off there will be some ammonia.

If after a few days everything looks good then you should be ok.

Just try to keep all the rock wet to avoid a lot of die off.

I'd say that if you're saving all the water that you shouldn't need to wait to at all to add the fish back into the tank...Just make sure the temp matches and you should be good.

Also make sure that the rock stays wet to minimize die off.

IMO/E, saving the water doesn't really matter --- keeping the rocks wet/damp is what matters. There is very little to no bacteria living in the water column.

For the anemone, I would wait a month, lots of things are going to be stirred up during that move. Plus, it is going to take some time to get used to that tank and how things work with it.

As for the clowns, I would wait longer --- mainly because they are very aggressive and I wouldn't want them to be the first fish in the tank, it will make adding other fish to the tank more difficult.
