How much skimmate are you pulling from your skimmer on a daily basis? Also specify if you're wet skimming or dry skimming!

Dry skimming here. I empty the cup every water change (weekly) and it's normally filled about half way.

That's some dark skimmate. Mines usually dark but yours seems darker.

Dry skim. I clean it once a week during water changes. It's usually a little less than half full of dark liquid with a decent amount of solids

For you thats one day? Was the cup totally cleaned beforehand, im also around the same amount as you except every second day +cleaning my cup once a week

I use the wet method and I have pull a pretty dark full container every week when I do water change.

I try and aim for medium. Little dry little wet. But i am struggling to pull out a 1/8 cup. I have to clean it before it even gets close to a. 1/4 way up. I keep adjusting , I may need a new skimmer or skimmer pump

When it is full

About 3 to 4 day

I'm a wet skimmer but don't have large fish load. Use bio pellets and dose no-pox. Maybe 1/4 cup per day. I had hair algae 2 months ago or so and now my rock is virtually clean. Winning the battle. 58 gal with 20 gal sump. Sps are doing well.

i try to stay in the middle if wet or dry skimming. This is after one week.

This is first cup since restarted sump Sunday night. 2 days.

This is my 18g sump now...added a small refugium and widened my baffles so I can get in there to clean. Also added two shelves for media if needed.

I cleaned the cup 10 hours ago. It's about 3/4 full in 5 days. I skim a little on wet side, medium bio load and vinegar dose.

Being I'm a newbie to all this what is the difference between wet and dry? I'm thinking it's all wet since its water bubbles but then again what do I know, I'm just starting out

Wet and dry skimming has to do with where the bubbles are breaking in the neck of the skimmer. The higher the position of the bubbles the wetter the skimate, the lower the position the dryer the skimate. There is no right or wrong way and witch is better is debated have been many successful tanks either way just have to find what works best for you.
