Hey there R2R, long time no see. After a long, west coast road trip, I'm back and looking to sell some fish/inverts/corals. I was wondering if anyone could give me a heads up as to any general guidelines when it comes to private sales. If anyone has any feedback please let me know as soon as possible. The quicker I have an idea of how to go about selling the sooner I can offer up some beautiful looking pieces.
Also, my friend and I are looking to use the money from this sale, and possibly from kickstarter.com when we can get something up, to start our own saltwater store. We both have experience in saltwater care/sales/maintenance/etc. and both have small business knowledge. After working for a local fish store and seeing first hand how customers and animals alike were being treated, we decided that what we could offer would be better for everyone and everything. We are currently working on a business plan, have ideas of how to make our business sustainable and environmentally friendly (locally grown corals, clownish breeding, etc.) and a couple locations in mind. We would also, once we are up and running, like to expand to include online sales and community outreach projects (donations, presentations at local school, etc.) Again, we are currently only in the initial planning stages, but with some help we hope to be up and running as soon as possible.
We are both very passionate about the saltwater hobby and would love to be able to share our knowledge and experience with anyone and everyone. I will keep R2R and its members updated as we proceed, but for now, any knowledge or ideas that anyone is willing to share would be very appreciated. Thank you
