It was only a matter of time, everything was going too good. My AC went out right in the beginning of a heat wave here in TN. Thankfully I was able to keep the tank stable enough to avoid any losses. I don’t have a chiller so the only thing I could do was put a fan over the tank at full blast. The temperature in the house went up to 91 degrees F. Believe it or not the fan kept the tank at 79 with an occasional spike up to 82. Before this happens to you make sure you at least have a good fan in your house. I’m not talking about a desktop or clip on type either. I have a pedestal type that’s designed for rooms. My tank is a Nuvo 10 and I was going through 1 gallon a day in evap losses so be prepared. I took my AC for granted and I almost paid a hefty price for it. So in short, even in 90 degree temps a good ole fan will do wonders. Good luck out there and if you don’t already have one get a fan!!

Glad you were able to avoid a catastrophe. I always get nervous about something like this happening when i'm not home.

Happens. Glad you got through it.

Redundancy is the key, if you can manage it. I have 2 separate heat pumps, one on either end of my home. Independent heat and air from each. Tank is right in the middle... either could go down, without causing a catastrophe. Have a pellet stove for emergency heat, as well.

Had one unit go down mid winter two years ago, took a week to have it replaced. It was a bit cool in the back bedroom on that side of the house, but the living room was fine.

The house was built that way back in the early 70's... I didn't design it, but I'm taking full advantage of it :)

We have a Generator (need it for work often ) That can run most of my house including the Furnace , Two 110 window ac units and a Chiller.. I also keep about 150 gallons of RO Water ...

Our ac was down for a week as well about 5 weeks ago. it took 10 days to get new HVAC , Furnace ,Condenser and Evaporator from supplier then a few days for me to install and get my HVAC GUY To come vaccume and start it... it was in the 90s and window units kept everything in reasonable temps...
