@glennf - I'm sure there are some ways you could turn your problem into an advantage. You might try talking to your LFS to see if they'd pay you for frags from your corals. You could also try selling them directly, or setting up a second grow-out tank for the excess.
Or is that what you're already doing - I'm not sure what you meant by "lobbying with the cuttings."
There are a few things you could do to try and curb your growth some:
1) Reduce photoperiod.
2) Reduce calcium level periodically.
3) Reduce available food for teh corals.
And finally, another thing you could do - if you have a local reef club, I'm sure that your clubmates would love the opportunity to clip your corals for you if you let them keep the excess. Just make sure they're not taking
too much. =)
