I would like to add a custom "refugium" or basket section to the larger central "return" chamber of my tank. The idea being I could run a small amount of Cheato or something up there.. but those details are not important.. My question is what "reef safe" materials can I use to make this? Plexi glass and some sort of epoxy possibly? Or would these leach into the water after a short period of time?

I've added a rough sketch of the idea I'm working with currently. Tank is Fluval Flex 32.5. No external sump modifications or anything.
The two outter chambers where the 2x black sponges are pictured are already taken up with inTank 3 chamber media baskets, and I am unwilling to convert one of these smaller chambers.

I have access to power saw(s), dremel, etc . . if that helps.

This will be my first tank "DIY" so appreciate any advice

Thanks in advance,

Christian

Here's an easy answer, but if you want to go all out then you could make something much nicer out of acrylic.

Acrylic is your best bet as it fuses easily and durable in strength
