My husband put a filter sock full of carbon in the new 54 gallon's sump and it exploded this morning! The whole tank is a black cloud. We did a 20 gallon water change so far and are making new water now. Should I take out the fish and corals? Will it kill them?

Put a very small micro filter on the exit of all powerheads and return pumps, and clean them hourly if possible. Keep up the water changes every little bit. Everything will be fine, but if there are many larger particulates on the substrate you might wanna get those too.

I remember one time my head was in the clouds and I filled up my canister filter with unrinsed carbon, turned it on and waled away.........a few hours later I realized what Ihad done

I imagine the result was similar or maybe even worse than what you just had happen. It freaked me out at the time, and some of the backs and undersides fo the rocks that didnt have coralline growth ont he were black for months....maybe even longer. Everything was black. It was a mess.

Didnt hurt a thing
