They have a sump that would work perfect for me and even has an ATO resevoir....any issues with quality

I have a Reef Octopus sump that is very similar (same layout) and I really like it. Which size are you looking at?

Never heard or saw any ice cap sump quality issues. Seem real nice to me

Great! That is the same size that I have!

Hey, I just got my sump today. Looks nice but the bulkheads are 1.5 inches....is yours the same? I thought I would be 1 inch....

Good question! Let me check...brb.

Although the layout of the Reef Octopus and IceCap sumps are close, when I just took a closer look online there are some differences. The Reef Octopus OCTO OS36-A sump has (2) 1" drain bulk heads and (2) 4" filter socks, whereas (according to the CoralVue website) the IceCap RS-36 sump has (2) 1.5" drain bulkheads and (1) 7" sock. I did confirm the 1" measurement on my OCTO sump.

You think I could just use a reducer?

Because you are going from small to large and it isn't a pressurized joint I don't see an issue.

Ya let's hope...I might have ordered too big a sump lol....tank is only 100 gallons
Nah. More water is always better.

Also, I have an Icecap 36 and just used 1.5 to 1 slip reducers. I did glue mine, but it may not be needed. I also installed unions right at the reducers. Makes for easy removal, if needed.

These guys.

Sure you could have got by with a smaller sump but I think you'll appreciate the extra space when you want to start adding reactors, etc. :) Besides the additional water volume means more tank stability, right?!?

I was just at home depot and they claimed they had these but I couldn't find it! I'll try lowes...ya more room is better but I now realize that this will take up 36 of the 42 available inches....at least it has the ato reservoir in there

Ya your probably right....did you put any foam or anything under the sump?

I didn't, but IMO it is a reasonable idea. I have thought about adding a layer of thin rubber mat the next time I remove it (I try to do a deep clean once a year).
