I would agree, WWC is expensive, however I bought it during their cyber Monday sale, one of them was $5.

The problem I’ve seen with buying from other reefers is, that a good deal of people don’t want to ship, I’m in Maine so there isn’t a big population of reefers around here to get things from locally. The ones that do ship, the shipping cost are much higher than an only vendor because they just don’t do the volume. However, I’ve had good luck with the live sales and eBay.

Agree with @reef lover, getting under them and using a scalpel or something sharp to get them off is a good method. Valonia cells can easily spread with brushing action and make the problem worse.
If popping them in the tank causes bubble algae to spread how or why do we allow crabs\fish to eat the algae? They do not eat the " bubbles" whole. I think this is a very popular misconception spread in our community.

If you haven’t already, get rid of the old plug the frag came on and replace it with a new one.

In general this simple action is effective against many invasive types of hitchhikers not just valonia.

I removed the frag plugs of all three, even the one that I didn’t see any algae on.

Check w/ Travis at Fish of Hex - good selection, great prices and he stands behind everything he sells.

I just looked at his site, another issue I have is buying from other reefers is everyone is currently in an SPS craze. My tank is softies and LPS, I'm not ready to take on the SPS beast yet. Very few vendors have Softies that aren't zoes or mushrooms. That is one reason I bought a couple pipe organs because it was an interesting Softy that I haven't seen at other places.
