So I haven’t been on in a while took a small break from everything..set up a Red Sea reefer 65.it’s been running about 10 months now.. have some softies in and everything looks great.water quality seems in check..lighting is set to zaxby for 2 ai primes..nems are growing as expected.. everything looks so happy..system has great flow but blasto and zoos are on a slow path def growing but a bit slow from my older tanks running t5s etc.. using really good salt.Water changes are at 15 gallons a week.dosing with calcium and trace elements.
oh and a daily cleaner for rocks etc.. feeding frozen plankton and Mises and pellets.. for my bleny and shrimps..any ideas.. I don’t want to turn up light to extreme to avoid bleaching and to much algae..Also placement is a concern as grow out. No coralline grows on my glass either but everywhere else. hmmm.any suggestions would be great..

Tank looks great! You said your dosing calcium? No alk supplement? Done zoas and blastos just grow slower than others. Did you have a specific question? Have you tested your parameters lately?

so the particular question is about debris on live rock etc. for some reason no matter how many times I use a turkey baster and blast rocks..always excessive particles. I clean sock and filter floss often as it builds up fast and causes filters to slow down. I am not dosing alk the salt I use suppose to contain all that..?? nothing is dying or dead in the tank. I feed 1 time daily and I def am not overfeeding I don't throw frozen in I thaw etc...I have been using reef roids 1 time every 2 weeks direct to coral. I'm wondering if my tank is like recycling or something..rocks are turning purple and some are going thru a brown stage. IDK. I'm confused.. tank is looking great but feels something is wrong and it's not slime algae or anything calculus just like a frozen cube of mises just dropped in the tank and blowing around that's what it looks like but obviously not.

calcium is 480
PH 8.0-8.5
nitrates 20
nitrites 10

So your salt contains the alk supplement but not the calcium? That doesn't sound right. Have you tested alk? What about po4? Also nitrites should be 0. Maybe test error? Can you retest? In any case as long as your fish and corals are happy I wouldn't stress too much over test results.

As for the debris floating around tiny specks are normal, bigger pieces similar to frozen food are not. It's weird your filter socks aren't pulling all of that out. Maybe you can turn up your return pump to help get that suspended matter sucked down to the filter sock?

yea maybe a stronger return pump..
and nitrates are at zero typos..
also was thinking my circ pump placement
i have one way up top for water movement at the surface but maybe it's just pushing it down and away from the inlet until it eventually catches to a rock etc. also as far as alk I do need to start dosing. just need to get to the store with these storms here in Pennsylvania.i did have a calcium supplement here already..the salt said 450 for calc at 1.033 salinity..yup 1.033, not a typo. so I dose due to my salinity sits at 1.026.

1.033???? What salt is this? Have you looked into kalkwasser for cal and alk?

do you have a dosing schedule that might get me as stable as possible? salt is a coral pro and I just looked again I was reading it wrong it's 450-455 cal at 1.025 and alk 12.3-12.7 used as directed.. really good salt for about 60 bucks a jug. I notice a big difference. can you explain kalckwasser etc..ty
