I’ll installing a new floor that my fish tank sits on in the next week or so. The house is basically going to become a construction zone during this time and I’m worried about the health of the tank and occupants. I’m thinking I’ll need to, at a minimum, put some sort of cover over the tank. I was thinking a plexiglass or something similar to allow light to pass through. But then I’d be worried there isn’t enough oxygen.
Anybody been in this situation or have recommendations for some sort of cover? It’s mostly the dust I’m worried about.
Thanks

I will tell you this.... my buddy just got his floors refinished and it really screwed with his tank big time. He has it under control now but lost a few corals and water got cloudy. We are talking about an expert reefer with a 260+ gallon water volume And sells many frags. Not someone who would do something silly. The floors were upstairs and his tank is in basement. Something they did collected in his water system via the floor finishing. I don’t know if some dripped in from above or what, but it was crazy and took all his water reserves and all mine to get his tank straightened out. Fine now but something to think about.

That really sucks. All the dust must have dropped down into the basement. Did he cover the tank in anyway?

There are reports out there of people having candles or scented fragrances mess with their tanks, I don’t doubt some of the glue or poly used on the floors could have a similar effect

Yeah that makes sense. It’s going to be a vinyl floor, so I’m sure they’ll be lots of gluing.
I’m hoping to get some sort of giant air filter to cover the tank. Or a forced ventilation to remove the fumes

Same here. I burn a lot of Plaosanto with no issues. Maybe there’s a fish friendly glue they can use lol
