Just lost smaller clownfish last night. They have been together since purchase. All other livestock fine and parameters good. I am assuming it was aggression from larger clown. How often does this happen?

My female killed my male.
For all of the pairing fish; cichlids, damsels, etc., there is a chance that one of the mates (usually the dominant one, so the female in a clown pair), will reject the other, even after being together for a while.
It happens quite often, tank size, stocking, presence of a host, breed of clowns, etc. can all be determining factors for what causes a breakup.

Varies much between species.
Can be paired for some time then “kicked out”, maybe a breeding issue.

I had a tomato clown..
I swear she was the devil incarnate. Everytime I out my hand or finger or arm.innthe tank she would flat out attack, not nip or bite full on raging attack! She was mean as hell. I finally had to put her in my sump just to do anything to my display. I finally set up a small bio cube for her and she lived out her days there by herself. Potting to kill the entire world the whole time...mean mean little sucker ...in a weird way I kind of miss her ....
