So in my 240 gallon, im dosing a total of 500ml of fully saturated limewater spread out to 24 times a day. I dont have a ph meter but should i be concerned of the ph getting to high with this quantity? Any idea what the max might be? This amount is currently keeping my alk stable but i suspect it wont soon, so ill have to increase the dosage.

No concern at all.

1.25% of the water volume of saturated limewater added all at once will boost pH by about 0.7 pH units (exact value depends on the actual alk and pH).

You are adding way, way, way less than that, and spreading it out.

Thanks Randy! Any idea of the danger zone 24 times a day? So i could add 3 gallons all at once and only raise ph by .7 in my 240 gallon?

Iirc your article says .25% is an acceptable raise all at once. So i could safelty add .6 gallons all at once to my 240? Or .6 gallons 24 times a day if necessary.

24 times a day, I think you could replace all evaporated water if you have good aeration. :)

Yes i thought of that, but the purpose is to use the doser to dose limewater like i would if I was using two part.

The thing about my ato is it frequently got plugged with calcium for some reason. So i just want to use it for fresh top off.

Im using the ghl doser for limewater, vodka and soon magnesium but I haven't figured that part out yet.

I was just using the evaporation as an upper limit, saying that you can dose any amount that the tank can take in terms of volume. :)

Oh sorry I misunderstood, thats good to know. What is the danger zone for limewater delivery approximately?

I'd try to limit the immediate pH rise to less than 0.25 pH units, and the overall pH to less than pH 8.6.

How much that is depends on many factors, but for immediate dosing, in most cases 0.1% of the tank volume is OK if it is mixed in rapidly enough.
