Ok long story short, I have had this IM Nuvo 10 set up since may. Midsummer it crashed wiping out my clowns and much of my corals. I then sent it back up and l let it run by itself for a month while I was in Australia. Coming back to school I brought my tank ready to put in the work and care but have been dealing with this algae issue. No, I did not use RODI water (just treated tap) but finally bought a 4 stage from BRS. I broke down the whole tank wiping it down rinsing the sand and using new rock. I keep thinking of getting rid of these corals (the kenya and zoas) as they seem to have had the algae and where the source cannot be eradicated from. My thoughts are I rather start this tank fresh THE RIGHT WAY with RODI rather then bringing in these corals and letting the problem just continue. Thoughts?

Algae is always with us. It's the water quality and lighting that allow them to flourish. The pics aren't great but the zoa's look like they have some color. I would keep them. The kenya tree might flourish with the right care.

@Mono I totally understand that algae will always be there. I am just afraid of introducing these frags and it popping back onto the clean live rock and having this same issue

If you have time, check out the BRS TV videos on cycling a tank and eradicating algae. They have pretty good information. Good luck!

Dont toss the corals...all tanks go througj the uglies while they mature.

@reef lover Thanks fo the input, its not that I cannot stand the sight I just do not know if I should be considered about that algae being transferred into another new tank

It Will get in one way or another. By keeping nutrients down and parameters stable it will die off .
I would pull of as much as i could and spot treat with straight peroxide rinse and return.

@flchamp89 That's what I am thinking, I think finally using (Chemi-pure blue) and RODI will do the trick
