Picked up a used Ecotech M1 from another member and upon taking it apart for a good bath I notice the clip (for lack of better word) is pretty nasty. My question is should I be concerned with this. Looks like rust to me, but could be something completely different. Pump works perfectly, just wasn’t sure what to do. Thanks!

I'd remove the clip and clean/soak it separately. I can't tell what it's made of (looks like rust to me as well, but I'm not in front of it).
Thanks for the reply! Any guesses on how to remove the clip? Assuming it’s even supposed to be removed. I have no experience with these return pumps.

Yes, you just need to wedge the two prongs apart and slide it back. It's a c-clip. Then the opaque yellow part should come off as well. Sometimes a spare set of hands comes in handy.

Gotcha. That helps. I guess question 2 would be is this a standard hardware store part that I could easily replace it with, or do you know if they are specific to ecotech and their products?

Chances are it's a standard part. I know I have similar clips on my two Tunze impellers (I believe they're stainless steel, but I'm not 100%).

I'd give it a good soak, clean and possibly some rust remover followed by another clean and soak. I like a combination of EzeClean/hot water or vinegar/hot water.

Will give that a try this weekend. Thanks so much!!
