Clowns act strange by nature. But could you provide a full picture of your tank with the camera turned the right direction ... wink.. please. I think the picture may help.

Also, please provide readings for salinity, pH, and temp. .. they aren't zero.. LOL.. or we have a big scientific break through..

Clowns act strange by nature...

agreed. Recently I moved some rock around my tank and my clown who I've had for 3 years now didn't eat for a few days and was acting really strange.

OK.. looks good.. I was concerned about the live rock, but not any more. Clowns can pick some weird places to "hang out". They may be in a romantic mood, or just becoming pals. As an after thought, what is it you are feeding them? One thing that may help is to put your food in a glass of the tank water then dump it in. Be sure you feed enough so the skunk gets a share.

Having a skunk shrimp that is healthy is a good indicator, and to be able to see such things was why I requested to see a larger picture. They are a hoot aren't they?

I think your tank is looking healthy. ... although, I am still wishing I could know what your salinity is. How are you checking it?.. and are you?

81° is ok on temp as long as you don't let it swing much in a 24 hour period. With higher temps it becomes more important to keep good water flow. I keep my temp between 79° and 80°, we are right there together.

EDIT: BTW nice job on the picture.

oops... ummmh.. IMO ..nix the red light and .. can you make it blue? or purple? Sorry you luv the red.. ummmmh.. shrug... I recommend you don't use it and keep the moon light really dim. The tank doesn't need a night light... but yes I have one to.. because I like it. I use a common night light like we plug into a bathroom socket... and it is yellowish white or something like that.

This "could" explain the strange behaviors.. more darkness please and .. ummh.. not red. Red is the first color to go away when light reaches the reefs in nature.. it may be messing with the fish's minds not letting them "sleep" well.

EDIT: I have since found nothing to support my statement... shrug... I think I will post a new thread and see what comes up.

Don't give up, fish are living creatures and need some tlc at times. Your doing the right thing finding out how to care for them even when they are sick.

A red LED flash light can do that.. and be even more fun. Then it isn't on more that a short time. You can get flash lights that have red selections at hunting supply departments.

I haven't seen my pom pom in weeks. Last time he molted he lost his pom poms and now I'm worried if he has since past away. Though I saw a cleaner shrimp the other night I hadn't seen in months, thought it was dead too. I have two emerald crabs I NEVER see, but they are apparently doing their chores. ... I see a bubble algae on occasion and then they vanish.. so the emeralds are getting it done on the stealth.

did you read my post on red lights?
