Is this okay?

Hi All -

I am about two months into my BioCube 29. I went thru the cycle phrase and have added two clown fish and 8-10 hermit crabs.

I noticed in the last couple of days this brownish color on my live rocks (see photos). I did a water change two days ago. My tank parameters seem fine.

should I be concerned? what is it? Should I do anything to prevent it?

It looks like diatoms. Just leave them alone, and they will go away. They are one of the first algae blooms in a new tank.

Perfectly normal. Just diatoms like mentioned above. You will see the rocks go through many phases of life and eventually becoming “live” rock.
